Mad4U weekly events (for brochure)
Weekly Events:
Tuesday - Open Mic Night at 7:30pm
Every Tuesday night in Taylor Down Under Madison 4 U hosts an open mic night, which gives JMU students an opportunity to be in the spotlight. Students can sign up to perform by calling the TDU hotline (540-568-7853) starting on Tuesday morning.
Tuesday and Thursday - Madison Meditates at 12:30pm
Madison Meditates, which meets in Taylor 405 and is led by JMU professor Jared Featherstone, encourages students to expand their knowledge within and beyond their own faith traditions by experiencing secular meditation opportunities.
Mindfulness meditation has enabled many people to understand their stress, improve personal relationships, and develop deep concentration, using methods practiced for over 2500 years. No experience is necessary. Cushions, mats, and chairs will be provided, though you are free to bring your own. Students, faculty, and staff are welcome.
Wednesday - Teatime at 4:00pm
Come celebrate "hump-day" every Wednesday over Tea and scones! Teatime has quickly become a tradition for community building and sharing, over a cup of hot tea provided by Mad4U. Teatime will be in the Student Activities and Involvement Office, Taylor 205A until the Taylor Patio renovation is complete. We will be outside after that as weather permits.
Thursday's Rotate Programs
Karaoke at 8:00pm
Madison 4 U changes the theme once a month, so you might find yourself at "Scary-oke", "Care-oke", or even "Flower Power Karaoke"! Everyone is welcome to come check it out- it's a blast! Program held on the stage in TDU.
Poetry Open Mic at 8:00pm
Once a month we invite performance poets, emcees, page poets and fans of poetry to step on the TDU stage and take the mic. No one style reigns and every voice is welcome.
Friday Night Programming Variety
Mario Kart? Smash Bros?
Madison 4 U will be hosting a tournament event once a month in TDU and once a month in the Festival Drum and J Maddy's (also in the drum area). Prizes will be awarded. See calendar for exact dates and times. **Calendar information above!

On Friday nights Madison 4 U takes a dance lesson or enjoys a performance by one of JMU's premier student organizations. On any given Friday around 10pm, you'll find Swing Dance, Latin Dance, Lion Dance, Break-dance, or even Belly Dancers. Learn some new steps and bust a move, or enjoy a performance.
Weekend Action
Madison 4 U hosts billiards tournaments in the Corner Pocket down in TDU. Every month 9-Ball is played competitively. See the monthly calendar for details. In the spring we'll put together a travel team who will represent JMU at a 5 state regional tournament sponsored by the Association of College Unions International, (ACUI).
